The program has encountered a serious problem and needs to close

I tried playing Saints Row The Third on steam via wineskin wrapper and then there was a white screen, and it said that the program has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. It said that it the problem may have been caused by a problem in a program, or a deficiency in wineskin. I thought I could play pc games with Wineskin, but apparently wineskin causes a white screen followed by that message. I doubt I will get a reply but if you do see this then tell me a solution.

The error message was telling you it was probably a problem in Wine.  Wineskin itself is focused on using Wine and XQuartz to make Mac apps, but Wine itself is not modified in standard engines.  People can modify Wine source code to make their own special engines to fix issues, but thats a developer level thing, not a normal end user thing.

There is a lot of things you can troubleshoot to try to fix crashes or problems when trying to get a game working with Wineskin... its not always easy.  Sometimes minor changes fixes things.. like Override settings for Screen Options, or changing in-game settings via .ini files or registry entires... maybe adding some dll overrides or codecs or something else through Winetricks.

Usually when starting out and you do not know what to do, you have a few options...

Try to become a Wine expert, and get good at porting games... doing a lot of web research, including the WineHQ.org AppDB that keeps track of specific apps and people report if or how they got programs working....

or go to somewhere like the forums at Portingteam.com or to PaulTheTall.com websites and find a wrapper thats already made and fixed to work with the game your wanting to play... many people who get good with hobby porting like this share their wrappers so other can use them.
